L'Inspiration de Jean Cocteau

MY FIRST FILM:

Jean Cocteau was a French filmmaker in the early twentieth century. Today, he is best known for two of his films: Les Parents Terribles and Beauty and the Beast (no, not the Disney film).

How is this at all relevant to anything? Well, perhaps I should have started with this: in fifth grade, I did an ongoing project in my English class where we picked any topic we were interested in and did a project relating to it each month. One month, I decided I was going to create my own film rather than analyzing another one. However, the presentation was supposed to be informative, so I picked Jean Cocteau as my presentation topic. I honestly don't remember how I even found out about him, but I do know that I started learning French that year so I suppose that had something to do with it.

I also remember that I wrote a script for myself and that it was the primary part of my presentation, but I think I deleted it because I can't find it.

That said, I still have the film. I remember doing a couple projects in elementary school where I took images from the web and edited them together into a slide show, but this Lego stop motion film is the oldest film of mine that I still have. It's also probably the first film project I did that can really be considered a film.

Without the context of the presentation, the film doesn't make a whole lot of sense since there's no dialogue. However, the plot of the film is based on the idea that Jean Cocteau is wandering around his city looking for inspiration for his next film.

Now it's time to write my process diary for week two of Filmmaking, so I guess I'll see you all soon!
