Process Diary: Circles Part 1
WEEK 6 OF GOA FILMMAKING:
This week in my GOA Filmmaking course our assignment was to shoot six ten second shots of circles. Here's this week's video!
In
previous assignments I've mentioned the fact that I only have my iPhone
to film with and I didn't have any lenses. This was a bit of a problem
in my second skill tree assignment because the shots in the original
movie were wider than the shots I was able to take with my phone. This
problem is no more! I have some lenses!
Coincidentally, mom came across two camera lenses for iPhones this week, a fisheye and a 67mm, that she had no idea she had, so this past week was a lot of me playing around with the two of them and learning about the differences between them and the iPhone camera on its own. I actually really like the 67mm and the shots I took with it, so I will probably be using it in my next films.
As for what I learned from my film itself, my in class critique showed me three things. The first is that my title shot was a jump cut. Second: the slow motion with the dandelion didn't work because the frame rate was too low and the shot was therefore choppy. Finally, I was told that the music change, which actually came from the slow globe, was too abrupt.
Note: the title shot, slow motion, and music have all been fixed in the above version of my film.
So long until next week!
