Medieval Theatre
REVISITING DRAMA CLASS
So technically this was my brother's project for his drama class. The assignment was to create an interview with an 'expert' on medieval theatre. He invented the plot and wrote the script (and plays all the characters). He and my mother asked me to film and edit the project and I was more than happy to participate.
We had a lot of fun making this, and I think the final product came out quite well. I did put a lot of thought into the lighting, something that I have struggled with and noted in my past films. My other brother is actually holding two hue lights on max brightness right behind the camera. I think it certainly helped, although it is still dark. I really wanted to create a studio light effect, but I don't think I had powerful enough lights.
The shot that I struggled the most with was the pan from one character to another at the beginning. I wanted to create the effect that 'they' were sitting in the studio together; however, that obviously wasn't possible. I didn't manage to get it completely smooth but it's not horrible. I think some form of green screen or special effects would be needed to do it seamlessly.
There are also a couple times that I cut off the top of his head, which is unfortunate. My arms were tired! It took us a long time to film between the laughing, my brother forgetting his lines, and the map falling over 😂.
This was quick to edit. I had fun adding the logo and the scrolling bar at the bottom. I definitely took creative license, but my brother seems happy with the final project. It was certainly more enjoyable to film than 'The System'. Everyone was having fun.
I hope you find it as funny as we do.
