American in Paris Trailer

THE MAN I LOVE 

This trailer was filmed for 00 Productions' run of American in Paris at the Oxford Playhouse (15-18 February 2023). The production were flexible with the concept; I had a listen through the songs and recommended 'The Man I Love', which they agreed would be great for the trailer. We discussed roughly what they were looking for: the two protagonists walking towards each other and meeting each other for the first time. From there I designed a shot list that matched the vibe of the song (romantic and cheesy). I catered the vibe to both what I understood to be that of the show and what I thought the production were hoping for. 

We filmed on Queen's Lane. It was a simple shoot; however, we had to wait for traffic and it began pouring rain in the middle of the shoot. We waited it out and were able to continue without obvious continuity problems. We filmed a second scene with two additional characters in the Balliol College hall. The lighting was great but I do not think these scenes match with those filmed outside. They look like two separate shoots. 

This was a simple edit  – the production actually had no notes! I like the stills but the overall trailer is not my favourite. I think this is because the vibe is very different from the work that I like to create, not because there are specific aspects that I am not happy with. The production were very happy with the trailer and that is what matters most! This was a great cast and crew to work with and I enjoyed the experience.
