SUMMER SHOOTS
We had to reschedule this production three or four times – several of the crew caught COVID, and we struggled to find non-student actors. It almost felt like it was not going to happen but we made it work!
Filming in Oxford during the summer vacation was more difficult than we anticipated. The kit was only picked up an hour before shooting, so the batteries were not charged. The Director and Producer (I was the Sound Recordist) also had to organise accommodation – this was coordinated easily but the second accommodation was a long walk away so we did not end up using it. They also opted for nicer catering that the traditional meal deal because of the non-student actors.
It was a very enjoyable two-day shoot. Everyone was very kind and the vibes were great. I am glad that we made the production happen. The script is very fun: a Wes Anderson-style examination of a quirky family and grief.
UPDATE: The film was completed for the OUFF Short Film Festival, and the edit was beautifully done. So exciting to see the finished film!
